SUNSHINE Stars defender, Kunle Odunlami has expressed his resolve to secure a deal with a European club in the nearest future.
The defender was a member of the Super Eagles squad to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil but has since been overlooked by successive managers of the team.
He was also excluded from the list of players that will be vying for places in the Home Based squad Nigerians are hoping would attain the country’s first triumph at the CAF CHAN tournament in Rwanda early next year.
“Its been a very big blow being left out of the main Super Eagles after being in the team that played at the last World Cup. I was hoping to establish myself in the team and it was quite stunning to e frozen out.
“Now, with the CHAN tourney around the corner and at the end of the Premier League I was not even considered good enough to vie for a place in the Rwanda bound Home Based Eagles. These sort of things have the tendency of making one doubt his ability.
“I don’t know where it all went wrong and a player is not supposed to be one assessing himself but I reckon I have been consistent enough in the recently concluded season and deserve an opportunity.”
The centre half however expressed his determination to work harder and again gain the recognition of national team handlers who had overlooked him.
“Though I feel a bit bad, but I know what is required is to work harder and pray more. There will still be plenty of opportunities in the future and I will take them when they come,”.
“We were able to win the bronze in the last edition of the CHAN and it was our maiden appearance. Something tells me that the current side could go a step further. I wish the team all the best as they step up their preparations for the tourney.”
