Ogun State Government tasks HOLGAs on smooth governance

The Ogun State Government has charged Heads of Local Government Administrations (HOLGAs) to effectively manage their respective council areas, ensuring seamless governance.

This directive comes on the heels of the expiration of the tenure of local government chairmen on July 26, 2024.

The chairmen, elected on July 24, 2021, and sworn in by Governor Dapo Abiodun on July 26, 2021, had completed their three-year term.

Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, issued the directive during a meeting with the HOLGAs in Abeokuta.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining political and socio-economic stability at the grassroots, assuring the HOLGAs of the state government’s continued support for grassroots economic revitalization.

Talabi reiterated the administration’s commitment to grassroots development through infrastructure provision and impactful projects aimed at improving the lives of residents.

Responding on behalf of the HOLGAs, Director of Management Services at the Local Government Service Commission, Babatunde Owolabi, expressed gratitude for the governor’s confidence in their ability to lead at the grassroots.

He pledged the HOLGAs’ commitment to working together to achieve the government’s goals and programs at the local government level.

The meeting was attended by key government officials, including the Head of Service, Kehinde Onasanya; Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy, Ganiyu Hazmat; Permanent Secretary of the Local Government Service Commission, Olanike Oguntona; and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Olurotimi Akinlesi.
