Considering the forthcoming 2023 elections in Nigeria, Former Nigerian head of State and President, Rt’d Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo in a speech urged the older generation to step down for the younger ones.
Younger generation Nigerians should be provided with good and adequate knowledge and experience to transform Nigeria by the older generation, the erstwhile head of State said.
The former President at the 2022 annual lecture of the Murtala Muhammed Foundation, yesterday, said as he faulted old politicians who are interested and still contesting for the office of Mr President in 2023.
According to former President Olusegun Obasanjo in his speech at the annual 2022 lecture of the Murtala Muhammed Foundation, he said I quote verbatim below: “We need to have an intergenerational collaboration. Fayemi said he was in primary school when Murtala and Obasanjo were there.
“So, if people of the Murtala/Obasanjo era are competing with you as Governor, then, something is wrong.
“The Murtala/Obasanjo group should be stepping aside. Whatever experience and knowledge we have, we should be able to give it to you and you should be able to give it to those coming after you.”
