The Lagos State House of Assembly member representing Ajeromi 1 constituency, Hon. Lukman Olumoh has harped on importance of synergy amongst political stakeholders as the required ingredient of development.
Olumoh who Chairs the House Committee on Economic Planning and Budget made this assertion at the 33rd edition of the Ramadan lecture initiated by his father in Ajeromi,adding that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu also sent in several boxes of packaged palliatives to ensure the welfare of his constituents.
In commemnoration of the 33rd series of the Ramadan lecture Olumoh also doled out 10 million naira to 1000 people which includes the widows, vulnerable and youths in his constituency in an attempt to ameliorate the harsh realities of the time.
“It is the 33rd edition of this programme initiated by my late father Sheikh Saad Jokogbowo Olumoh, who was the Chairman of all Alfas and Imams in Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government and we have been doing it consistently every year.
“The essence is to make the faithful, whether Christian or Muslim share in the love that Ramadan brings and that is giving out to people and every year we empower the widows and widowers,but we have enlarged the scope this year to cover even non widows.
“My boss Rt Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa is well represented in this occasion and for all the assistance he had given us in this constituency we duly appreciate, by extension too to Mr. Governor because the face of Ajeromi Ifelodun is changing gradually.
“We can see intervention in terms of road construction everywhere, we got two secondary schools into this place newly, courtesy Mr. Governor so many things are happening with our being around and representing them,so we are grateful to the Governor’.
“We are grateful to Mr. Speaker and to the principal officer of the house and members for the support they give at all times to make sure I continue to be a shining light in Ajeromi Ifelodun local Government.
“I would also want to say that the leadership of the party in this local government especially in my constituency have been very very supportive, we have the senatorial leader Chief Rabiu Adio Oluwa, every time he would always say what can we do differently?
“We have Honourable Kolawole Taiwo, Hon. Adenekan and so many more of them, the two chairmen that fall within my constituency, Hon Okeowo and Hon Fatai Ayoola are very very supportive, they are here, their people are here, we do it collectively,both Ifelodun LCDA and Ajeromi Ifelodun local government.”
Olumoh maintained that more developments through state intervention are in the offing for his constituents.
“We expect to see more of that ,we expect to bring more of state intervention to this environment.
“It is a continuum that cannot be stopped, road infrastructure is there, we’ve given scholarships to our students in the tertiary institutions, we give bursary, we have a scheme that we call Koko Trader, where women collect interest free money and they repay.
“We have annual sporting event that we do for our youths which is widely accepted by all.
“I would always thank Mr. Speaker for what he has done, I won’t stop at telling him that he is a godsent to us in Ajeromi Ifelodun constituency 1 and by extension the entire Ajeromi Ifelodun local Government.”
He added that :“The youths as well will get some assistance, we have over 1000 people that we are going to give cash token of 10,000 naira each today.
“Graciously the SSA to Mr President on Community engagement Southwest Moremi Ojodu just put a call through and said I learnt you are doing something,Mr president is interested and he has graciously sent what you see here for us to distribute we still have many more of them.
“This is what we have put on display to share to the faithful during this Ramadan period, which I am personally grateful to President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for this assistant.”
The leading Islamic Cleric in Ajeromi Ifelodun, Sheikh Yaya Agboola who gave a lecture on the topic: “Role of Parents in eradicating use of drugs by the youths and young adults in our society”, harped on the need for the reintroduction of moral lessons into our schools curriculum, with a target to restore sanity in our society.
He charge all and sundry to eschew poor parenting as children easily take cue from all their parents does while growing up and eventually become either a menace or a great unit of the community.
Chief Mrs. Fatimot Balogun Iyaloja Alaba Aro was quick to add that Hon Olumoh is a divine talent for the community and is equally living his dream. She added that with the assistance of Mr President and good gestures from other stakeholders hunger will be reduced to its bearest minimum.
“President Bola Tinubu has been doing marvelously well for us in Nigeria and we have been hearing about his good deeds across the country through our chairmen that he said they should give us palliatives from time to time, same is what Hon. Olumoh is doing today.
They share money,rice and many other items and the cry of hunger is gradually reducing, may God keep helping him to do more, we were told it will be given to us for six months.
One of the beneficiaries of the kind gesture of the lawmaker, Mrs.Bolanle Cole commended the lawmaker for his timely interventions which has been a regular one, ever since his inception in office, she urge people to support his future political moves owing to his people friendly model of representation.
A physically challenged man Mr. Alaba Tijani who got the wind of the programme through the Islamic cleric was overjoyed owing to fact that the lawmaker had promised to get him a tricycle for his transport business which hitherto abandoned due the deplorable state of the tricycle he had before.
“What I heard today gladdens my heart, although I had a tricycle before but as a physically challenged person I detest begging for alms.
“I am a trained cobbler but God also gives me grace to know how to ride a tricycle but most of the said tricycle are in a deplorable condition, so I met Sheikh Yayah Agboola I discussed about my predicament.
“He promised that once it is Ramadan period he would discuss my plight with Hon, Olumoh, God so good as I called him today he asked me to meet him here and he did introduce me to him, Olumoh then promised to get me a tricycle,I am so happy”.
Madam Moremi Ojodu the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement Southwest was on hand to physically present the palliative packs to the vulnerable in Ajeromi Ifelodun constituency 1, she emphasised the preparedness of the President to ensure peoples welfare during this ranging economic downturn.
“The President is a very humane person and he has created the community engagement office to be able to alleviate the pains of the people and ensure that governance is closer to them.
“So these palliatives are caring packages to the vulnerable families a support to them during this Easter and Ramadan period and to ensure that people had food to eat during this periods.
“It is replicated all over, we are going to take it to Ogun, Ekiti, Oyo, Osun and Ondo state all over the southwest region.
“In the package, we have rice groundnut oil, semo, sugar, sail and basic home food stuffs for people.”
The Ramadan lecture and cash empowerment series was also attended by his colleagues at the state house of Assembly namely; Hon. Nureni Akinsanya (Mushin 1), Hon.Musibau Aina (Apapa 2), Hon.Sabur Oluwa (Ajeromi Ifelodun 2).
Others are Hon Tijani Suraju (Ojo2) and Hon Ganiyu Okanlawon (Kosofe1),they all spoke so well about the lawmaker whom they described as one who love his constituents and selfless giver.
.Hon Fatai Ayoola the council boss of Ajeromi LGA lauded olumoh for the kind gesture which he noted was not the first but one of the series of empowerment for which the lawmaker is known in the area.
“I can affirm the fact that this is not the first time Olumoh is doing this, he is a leader and a representative, that looks back and listen to the yearnings of his people and this not going to be the last by the grace of God.
“He is somebody we have utmost respect for and he has been doing so well, we don’t have any problem with him.
On the palliatives brought from the President, Ayoola said, “the president has been doing that we are his disciples and we will keep upholding the tenets of democracy by giving to the people what they need.”
