The political space in Nigeria is practically dominated by the two leading political parties in the country, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

The PDP governed the country between 1999-2015 and produced three elected Presidents for the country. These include Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, defeated the PDP in 2015 presidential election in a keenly contested exercise. The then APC presidential candidate, and current president of the country, Muhammadu Buhari, took over the mantle of leadership from the PDP led government.

The incumbent president Muhammadu Buhari, will complete his constitutional two terms in 2023. In order to win the hearts of the electorates, the PDP and the APC, appears prepared to politically outsmart the other.

The uncompleted PDP secretariat

What is one campaign strategy APC may use against PDP in 2023 presidential election?.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, under the then Chairmanship of Dr Ahmadu Ali, started the construction of its Secretariat in 2008. The project is located along Muhammadu Buhari Way, Central Business District, Abuja.

For timely execution of the project, the leadership of the party appointed the then Vice President, Goodluck Jonathan, as Chairman of the project implementation committee.

More than twelve years after the commencement of the project, the PDP is yet to bring the project to reality, despite being in power for many years.

As 2023 draws near, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, may focus their campaign on rebuilding the country and making positive changes in all sectors of the economy for all Nigerians. The PDP may likely use the present economic and security challenges to campaign against the APC.

The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, may likely use the uncompleted Secretariat project of the PDP, to campaign against the umbrella party. The APC, may discourage Nigerians from voting the PDP, to avoid uncompleted projects, policies and programmes in the country.
