More details of certain facts are unfolding on the organ harvest allegations against the former Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, and his wife, Beatrice, for which they are being detained in the United Kingdom (U.K.). Information derived from the international passport of the controversial kidney donor, identified in the passport as David Ukpo Nwamini, the specific name Ekweremadu indicated in a letter requesting for medical visa, revealed that the young man is over 21 years old.
The information on the data page of the application submitted to the British High in Abuja indicated that the of issuance of the passport showed November 4, 2021, the date of birth is October 12, 2000, indicating that the age of the passport holder is 21 years. Some reports had claimed that the young man is 15 years old, and therefore, a teenager.
David Ukpo Nwamini was to donate a kidney to the daughter of Ekweremadu, Sonia, the transplant was scheduled to be done at the Royal Free Hospital, London.
The British Metropolitan Police had in a statement on its website on Thursday, declared: “[A] Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, 55 (10.9.66) of Nigeria is charged with conspiracy to arrange/facilitate travel of another person with a view to exploitation, namely organ harvesting.
“[B] Ike Ekweremadu, 60 (12.05.62) of Nigeria is charged with conspiracy to arrange/facilitate travel of another person with a view to exploitation, namely organ harvesting”
The Metropolitan Police had maintained: “A child has been safeguarded and we are working closely with partners on continued support. As criminal proceedings are now under way we will not be providing further details”.
