Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has accepted his defeat in the Benue North West Senatorial election held on February 25 in the state. The governor, accordingly, withdrew his petition from the tribunal, challenging the victory of Titus Zam of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who won the election.
Ortom, citing the Bible – John 3:27 which says that “A man can receive nothing, except it is given to him from heaven”; noted that there are evidence of malpractices, including non-transmission of results electronically, during the conduct of the election, but that he made the decision to concede defeat for the peace of the state.
