Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has decried that bandits have turned Nigeria into a killing field, noting that the so-called bandit terrorists unleash violence on innocent civilians with boldness. Governor Ortom, accordingly, expressed his sympathy for the passengers slaughtered in Sokoto State by bandits on the highway. The Benue Governor in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, sent his condolence to the Government and People of Sokoto State.
The governor emphasized that the increasing boldness the bandit terrorists have continued to demonstrate in their daily operations in the country reversals clear indication that the country is in grave danger and stands the risk of losing its sovereignty if urgent steps are not taken to eliminate the terrorists and keep Nigeria safe again.
Governor Ortom urged Nigerians to set aside partisanship, cooperate with government and security agencies to expose the terrorists for elimination so as to save Nigeria from the mindless killings.
Bandits had ambushed and slaughtered passengers traveling from Sabon Birni Local Government Area to Sokoto Town. The bus conveying the travelers was intercepted near Gidan Bawa, where the bandits killed some persons, kidnapped others, and burnt the vehicle.
