Senator Adams Oshiomhole, in commemoration of the 2024 Workers Day Anniversary, commended Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State for unilateral increase of Minimum Wage in the state to N70,000 per month.
Governor Obaseki had on Monday announced the increase of minimum wage of workers in the state to N70,000 monthly from the previous N40,000.
Oshiomhole, former President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and former governor of Edo State, in a media interaction commended Obaseki for the decision, noting that the Edo STate governor was his Economic Adviser when he was governor of the state; and has continued with the tradition he established.
According to Oshiomhole, “I am very happy with what the Edo State Governor has done. He is just being consistent with the tradition that we established when I was governor and he was my economic adviser.”
The senator emphasised the need for workers to earn more considering the prevailing hardship and economic crisis in the country.
