The defeated Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, in the last Saturday governorship election, may have covertly disagreed with President Muhammadu Buhari and 35 members of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) who had congratulated Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on his victory in the Osun election. President Buhari had issued a congratulatory statement hours after the INEC announced Adeleke winner of the Osun election, promising transparent electoral process during the 2023 general elections.
The governors, also in a letter by the NGF Chairman, Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, welcomed Adeleke to the Nigerian Governors Forum, and notified him that they are waiting for his resumption of office.
However, Oyetola rebuffed the acceptance of the Osun governorship election result by prominent stakeholders and state actors in the country, insisting on challenging the election in court.
According to the outgoing Osun Governor, “I have studied the outcome of the Osun election. “I will go to court to challenge PDP and Adeleke.”
Senator Ademola Adeleke of the PDP had won the election with 403,371 votes, defeating Oyetola of the APC, who had 375,027 votes in the last Saturday governorship election.
