The federal lawmaker representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Constituency in the house of Representatives, Hon. Yusuf Gagdi has said the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), are used to dragging his name in the media because he is a prominent politician in the State.
“My name is a big name and will always make news, that is why the PDP always wants to join issues with me”, Gagdi said on Tuesday while responding to PDP on the alleged involvement in truncating the result of the just concluded governorship polls in the State.
Recall the PDP Chairman in Plateau, Hon. Chris Hassan had on Monday said the missing 14 BVAS, Ad-hoc staff, INEC and the manipulation of Naraguta B Ward results in Jos North, was to truncate the election with the aim of canceling the result to pressurize INEC for a rerun, accusing Gagdi, the Jos North Local Government Chairman and others for masterminding the act.
Responding, Gagdi who is also the Chairman House Committee on Navy said he is too smart for the PDP who only wants to join issues with him.
He denied ever going to Jos North during collation of result and challenged the PDP to show a video clip of him in Jos North on the said collation of result.
“There is no way I will be in Jos North to disrupt the election as alleged by the PDP without anyone using his phone to capture me, especially in this digital era.
“On that same day I was in Kanam, my home town during collation, so how then could I have been in Jos North on the same Sunday? From my village to Kanam town is about 3 hours and from Kanam to Jos is about the same hour. So how then could I have left during collation in Kanam and be in Jos?” Gagdi said.
Dismissing involvement in any electoral malpractice in Jos North, the lawmaker said the law does not permit him to leave his constituency to another location during elections and collation of results.
Gagdi who does not want to be distracted on his bid to contest for the Speakership of the 10 Assembly also said his focus is to cross the huddle of becoming the next Speaker and not to join issues with the PDP, he said
