Pensioners who participated in the Contributory Pension Scheme during service, stormed the Osun State Government House on Tuesday, protesting the non-payment of their entitlements by the state government.
The protesting pensioners held a procession round the streets of the state capital, Osogbo, calling out Governor Gboyega Oyetola to pay their entitlement from the date they retired from service in the state.
The protesting pensioners assembled at the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Osogbo, thereafter, moved through the streets, and later assembled at the entrance of the State Secretariat in the Abeere area.
Security operatives on surveillance at the Government House, on sighting the protesting pensioners, closed the entrance gate to the secretariat to hinder protesters from gaining access to the offices.
The protesting pensioners in response, blocked the roads leading to the Secretariat, causing traffic congestion.
The pensioners chided Governor Oyetola for failure to pay their gratuity and pension since 2016.
