Petroleum minister denies rescue of kidnapped NNPC staffers

The Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, on Thursday said that National Petroleum Corporation staff that were kidnapped by Boko Haram last Tuesday cannot be confirmed if they have been released by their abductors.
National Daily recalls that some NNPC staffers were ambushed on their way to Maiduguri on oil exploration at the Lake Child Basin.
The minister, who spoke in Abuja at the NNPC Towers said, “We only heard, but can’t confirm if anyone has been rescued.
Meanwhile,  the Inspector General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, has ordered the redeployment of Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers serving along the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria highways starting from Zuba Division of FCT following worsen condition of kidnapping in that axis.
Other rank and files from Inspectors presently serving in those Police Divisions are also affected in the new deployment.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Jimoh Moshood, said in Abuja that the measure was to ensure total success of the operations currently ongoing on the route.
