Following the British court judgement authorizing Process and Industrial Development to take over Nigeria’s asset worth $9.6bn, a coalition of civil society groups has started a week-long protest at the UK High Commission in Abuja.
The protesters who started the agitation on Monday vowed to continue until the judgement is reversed.
Placards with inscriptions could be seen all round the office, screaming “$9.6bn judgement is a fraud,” “No to illegal takeover of our national assets,” “Nigeria rejects fraudulent judgment from British judge,” among others.
The federal government earlier said it would appeal the decision, though the P&ID is asking Nigeria to negotiate.
The billions was incurred in failed contracts between the PDP administration in 2010.
