The Nigeria Police Force in Katsina State have arrested a 20-year-old man for allegedly attempting to kill a 10-year-old boy in what authorities described as a ritual-related attack.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred on February 22 at about 7:30 p.m. in Kuidawa Village, Katsina State.
The suspect, identified as Aliyu Ashabu, who reportedly refers to himself as a native doctor popularly known as “Boka,” is alleged to have lured the young boy, Alhassan Usman, to a nearby bush under false pretences.
According to police sources, Ashabu allegedly pushed the child into a well in what investigators suspect was a planned ritual act.
The boy was discovered and rescued the following day, February 23, by a passerby described as a good Samaritan. He was immediately rushed to the General Hospital in Katsina, where he is currently receiving treatment for multiple injuries sustained during the incident.

Police sources disclosed that the suspect was subsequently tracked down and arrested. During interrogation, he reportedly confessed to the act.
Investigators said the suspect claimed he was preparing charms for an individual identified as Khalid, who is currently at large. Efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend the alleged accomplice.
The police confirmed that the case remains under investigation. The suspect may face charges including attempted culpable homicide, unlawful traditional practices, and other related offences under the law.
Authorities assured residents that further updates would be provided as investigations progress and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
