Tragedy struck in Ogbeson Quarters, off Benin-Agbor Road in Benin City, as the Edo State Police Command arrested a man, Theophilus Osazuwa, for allegedly killing his four-year-old son, Testimony Osazuwa, in what appears to be a drug-induced episode.

The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at the family’s residence. According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Moses Yamu, Osazuwa reportedly returned home displaying erratic behavior that witnesses described as trance-like.

“Upon arriving at his home, the suspect began shouting ‘Holy Ghost fire’ before grabbing his son and violently slamming him against a wall,” Yamu stated.

The boy was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival. Preliminary investigations revealed that Osazuwa, reportedly known for his history of illicit substance use, may have been under the influence at the time of the incident.
