Security operatives said to be men of the Nigerian police raided a guest house owned by Dep. Sen. President Ike Ekweremadu on Friday.
Nothing was found in the house located on Ganges Street in the Maitama District of Abuja when it was raided 8 am.
Uche Anichukwu, Ekweremadu’s spokesperson, said the action was carried out by the “Inspector-General of Police’s Special Squad”.
Ekweremadu becomes the second senator to be so raided after his colleague, Chairman Joint Appropriation Committee Abubakar Goje was busted last month.
However, Force PRO Moshood Jimoh denied the raid was carried out by the police.
“I have asked all our departments and confirmed none of our officers was there, ”he said.
Jimoh denied Goje’s allegation that the police took away 2017 budget documents when his hiuse was raided. But the police later owned up, and apologized.
