Police bust human trafficking syndicate, rescue 12 victims

The Katsina State Police Command under the leadership of CP Idrisu Dabban Dauda, has succeeded in busting a human trafficking syndicate, rescuing 12 victims from the human traffickers.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Gambo Isah, in a statement indicated that the Command on Tuesday, carried out a sting operation at a suspected location at about 12;30hrs, working on credible intelligence. The Command in operation at the residence of one Yahaya Dahiru, ‘M’ in Kalgo village, Daura Local Government Area, Katsina State, rescued 12 victims who were bound for Libya. The rescued victims were identified as: Madinat Adekeje, ‘F’, aged 39 years of Kwara State origin.

Aminat Kazeem, ‘F’, 25 years, Oyo State; Orobore Francis, ‘M’, 21 years, Edo State;

Mike Emuagbon, ‘M’, 22 years, Edo State;  Oladoke Uhunoma, ‘F’, aged 33 years, Edo State;
Elizabeth Idemudia, ‘F’, aged 16 years, Edo State;
Fatima Ibrahim, ‘F’, 25 years, Osun State;
Elizabeth Egbayelo, ‘F’, 32 years, Ondo State;
Olawale Oyindamola, ‘F’, aged 19 years, Ondo State;
Victoria Chidi, ‘F’, aged 14 years, Ondo State;
Folashayo Oluwabunmi, ‘F’, 30 years, Ogun State;
Suliyat Omotayo, ‘F’, aged 25 years, Ogun State.

SP Gambo Isah stated that the Katsina State Police Command is on the trail of the owner of the house, Yahaya Dahiru, ‘M’, of Kalgo village, Daura and the driver, Mas’udu Dusha, ‘M’, of Yankara village, Mai’addua, who he said are on the run, assuring that the police will get them arrested.

The PPRO said that the suspects will be handed over to National Agency for the Prohibition of trafficking of persons (NAPTIP).
