Police rescue 29-yr-old man from jungle justice in Lagos for dressing as woman

The police on Monday rescued 29- year-old man, Sanni Gafar, from jungle justice by mob in the suburb of Lagos State.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO)   of the Lagos State Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed that the mob attempted to lynch Sanni Gafar, suspect him to be a terrorist, but the timely intervention of the police saved telicity from being killed. He disclosed the prevented mob action occurred at 11.00 a.m.  at Ijora-Badia, Lagos,

The  PPRO said that the suspect was dressed as a woman at the time the mob gathered to lynch him before the arrival of the police at the scene to save his life.

Hundeyin highlighted: “Preliminary investigation shows that the suspect, who many alleged disguised as a woman, is Sanni Gafar, aged 29.

“He was found with a bag containing three hammers, six screwdrivers, one pair of pliers, one chisel, five spanners, three rolls of black cellophane, cable wires, 20mm bending spring, a pair of black trousers, and a plastic box of clips.

“The investigation is ongoing to ascertain his claim that he is an electrician. He is detained in an undisclosed place.”

Hundeyin said that the Commissioner of Police in Lagos, CP Abiodun Alabi, commended the residents of Lagos for their vigilance which led to the arrest of the suspect.

According to Hundeyin, “The CP, however, warned against any form of jungle justice.

“All suspicious persons or movements are to be reported to security agencies.”
