Senator Ademola Adeleke, representing Osun West Senatorial District on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the National Assembly, on Monday, declared his intention to join the Osun State governorship race.
Adeleke, a renowned pop star dancing Senator, in a letter written to the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Monday, declared, “In accordance with the leadership of our great party, I wish to respectfully express my interest to vie for the ticket of the party as its candidate in the Osun State Governorship election holding on September 22, 2018.”
Adeleke explained: “My decision to express this intent is based on a conviction that I possess all it takes to unite leaders and members of our party as well as galvanise the general electorate towards ensuring a resounding victory for the PDP in the forthcoming poll.”
Ademola Adeleke is the younger brother of the late Isiaka Adeleke who died in April 2017 after a brief illness. He won the3 bye election on the platform of the PDP, dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) after he ruling party denied him the ticket. Ademola rode to victory on the political structure built by his late elder brother to disgrace APC and its candidate, Mudashiru Hussein.
The late Isiaka Adeleke was a two-time senator elected on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party in Osun State from 2007 to 2011 and was elected again on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015. Late Isiaka Adeleke was the first civilian Governor of Osun State.
