The Premier League on Tuesday night issued a brief statement explaining why Leeds United’s second goal stood in their 2-2 draw with Chelsea, despite protests over a potential handball in the build-up.
Chelsea had taken a two-goal lead thanks to strikes from Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer. Leeds responded late in the match, with Lukas Nmecha converting a penalty before Noah Okafor scored from close range in the 73rd minute to level the score.

Addressing the controversy, the Premier League Match Centre posted on X that “the referee’s call of goal to Leeds United was checked and confirmed by VAR – with there deemed to be no handball offence by Bogle in the build-up.”
The decision sparked debate among fans and pundits, but the league maintained that the goal was valid following the video review.
