The merger negotiation between the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Engr. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, and the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, may get to a complicated stage in deciding who among the two should step down for the other as vice presidential candidate. The NNPP has rejected any consideration of vice presidential ticket for Kwankwaso in a joint ticket with Obi of the Labour Party.
The National Publicity Secretary of NNPP, Major Agbor (rtd), in a statement, refuted reports: “NNPP-LP alliance: ‘Kwankwaso can deputise Obi”, on Sunday, urging party supporters to disregard it as false.
The National Publicity Secretary declared that NNPP never at any time conceded that the Presidential candidate, Kwankwaso, would step down to accept vice presidential ticket as running mate of Peter Obi in the 2023 general elections. Agbor protested that the report was misleading and embarrassing to NNPP, Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate, and millions of the party’s supporters in Nigeria and overseas.
NNPP admitted that the negotiation for alliance with the Labour Party will strengthen the emergent platform for the 2023 elections.
