The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, have deepened their consultations with elder statesmen in the north. Peter and Baba-Ahmed, after visiting the Emir of Kano, HRM Ade-Bayero, took their consultation visit to two former heads of state, retired General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB), and retired General Abdulsalami Abubakar in Minna, Niger State.
Obi in a post on his official Facebook Page, wrote: “It was a pleasure and honour for me and my running mate, Dr Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, to be hosted by Nigeria’s military president, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, GCFR, at his home in Minna today.
“Gen. Abubakar is a true statesman with an abiding love for Nigeria who fueled our hope for a better future.”
Obi also posted their visit to IBB, saying: “Today, my running mate, Dr. Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, and I visited President Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, GCFR, at his home in Minna.
“He received us very warmly and we had insightful conversations on the state of affairs in our country.
“We are grateful to IBB for his fatherly welcome and counsel.”
Peter Obi and his running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, have moved from social media to the streets in their mobilization for support.
