The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has challenged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure speedy registration of eligible Nigerians that are qualified to vote in elections.
Obi on his Twitter handle on Thursday protested reports of voters registration being obstructed in the southeast by INEC’s bureaucratic red tapism, which he felt may unnecessarily disenfranchise many voters in the region.
Obi on his Twitter handle wrote: “Information reaching me indicates that voter registration across Nigeria, more so in the South East, is dogged by inertia & bureaucratic bottlenecks. I respectfully call on INEC to facilitate speedy registration of Nigerians to enable them to exercise their voting rights.”
