There are indications that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, may have been on foreign trip while the presidential candidates of the various parties were signing peace accord in Abuja on Thursday. The foreign trip was gathered to be cited as one of the reasons the APC Presidential Campaign Council could not be inaugurated on Wednesday as earlier schedule.

The Deputy Director of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Operations, Adams Oshiomhole, had in a media interaction on Wednesday stated he was ‘not aware if Tinubu is in Nigeria’.

According to Oshiomhole, former APC national chairman, “…I’m not sure if he is around or not.”

The APC presidential candidate was purported to have departed Nigeria for the United Kingdom (UK) on a pr-campaign season trip.

Apparently, Tinubu was absent as the various presidential candidates signed a peace accord in Abuja, organized by the National Peace Committee, led by a former head of state, General Abdusalami Abubakar, who is Chairman of the Committee.

The peace accord was organized for the presidential candidates of  the 18 political parties participating at that level of the general elections in 2023.

The presidential candidates sighted to be participating at the Peace Accord signing include Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Omoyele Sowore of the African Action Congress, among others.

While Tinubu was absent, the APC vice presidential candidate, Kashim Shettima, and the APC national chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, were present.
