The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and his running mate, Kashim Shettima, may have been on red alert as the former Governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff, visited former President Olusegun Obasanjo at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Thursday. Obasanjo hosted Sheriff to a closed-door meeting.
National Daily gathered that the meeting at the Obasanjo Presidential Library residence lasted for over 40 minutes, after which former Governor Sheriff disclosed that he was in Ogun State on private mission, noting, however, that it is customary to pay homage as a son would do politically, to former President Obasanjo, as his father.
Sheriff, an APC leader in Borno State owned up that he was in Abeokuta on consultation with the former President, Obasanjo is the CEO of Nigeria it the country was to be a company.
Sherrif had stated: “Baba is an elder statesman. If Nigeria is a company, Baba is the Chairman/Chief Executive of Nigeria. So, I came for consultations with my dad and to have a private chat.
“I am the younger one. From time to time, I must come and greet my father, discuss with him privately and go back.”
The APC vice presidential candidate succeeded Modu Sherrif as governor of Borno State. Unfortunately, he was not in Sherrif’s entourage to former President Obasanjo; thus, raising eyebrows in the APC presidential campaign team.
