Protest rages in Abuja over the detention of VeryDarkMan (VDM), a social media influencer, who has been in custody since last week.

Several youths on Monday stormed the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), demanding the release of VeryDarkMan from the EFCC custody.

National Daily Newspaper gathered that “the Youths of Nigeria arrived at the EFCC Headquarters Office in Abuja to demand for the release of VeryDarkMan, as the EFCC fearfully padlocked her office in Abuja.”

Several residents of the FCT also stormed the Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB) where VDM was said to be arrested.

The protesters asserted that “Observation no be crime”. To the consternation of many, “unbelievable large numbers of citizens resident in Abuje embarked on mass protest for the release of Verydarkman at the front of GTBANK branch at Area3 Abuja, where VDM was arrested.

There is also protest at the National Human Rights Commission, Maitam, Abuja, for the freedom of VDM.

Before the mass protest, several persons were said to have pulled their money out of GTB, while many others were said to have destroyed their ATM cards, in protest.

The rage continues pending the freedom of VDM, as the FCT has been thrown into chaos.
