Alhaji Muniru Raji, Special Adviser to Governor Ademola Adeleke on Political Matters, has condemned the recent calls by political figures to zone the 2026 Osun State governorship ticket to Osogbo, describing the agitations as self-serving and ill-advised.

Raji, who is also the Asiwaju Musulumi of Osogboland, made the remarks during a stakeholders’ engagement organized by the Osogbo Affairs Forum in Osogbo.

He argued that the focus should not be on pushing for political positions, but rather on fostering unity within the town.

According to Raji, “2030 will be a more realistic time for Osogbo to unite and present a unified front for their governorship aspirations.”

He emphasized that Osogbo is not yet in a position to produce a governor in 2026 and that the priority should be internal cohesion rather than political ambition at this stage.

Describing the agitation as “self-serving, ill-advised, and myopic,” Raji urged the people of Osogbo to focus on building unity before seeking political power.

“What Osogbo needs now is to put its house in order before pursuing any further ambitions.

Let’s wait for the next five years,” he added.

Raji also warned that the internal disunity among political stakeholders in Osogbo could undermine the chances of an indigene from the town becoming the governor of Osun in 2030.

He called on the people to set aside party politics and acrimony in favor of a united front.

“Osogbo has the potential to lead the state, but disunity among our people remains a significant barrier.

Without a united front, achieving the dream of producing a governor from Osogbo will be nearly impossible,” Raji concluded.

He stressed that the current focus should be on strengthening Osogbo’s foundations and uniting the town, as pursuing political ambitions prematurely could further divide the community.
