Reactions have begun trailing a video shared by Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Lagos Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin on social media, showing the moment a violent suspect was apprehended by American officers using taser/stun guns.
In the footage, which was shared on SP Hundeyin’s verified Twitter handle, a suspect is seen resisting arrest and threatening a lone police officer In front of a supermarket. The officer is also seen pointing a taser gun at the man while ordering him to stand in front of the police van, an order the suspect refused to obey.
The situation, soon took a turn for the worse after the man tried to attack another officer who had arrived at the scene to assist his colleague in carrying out the arrest. The suspect’s violent conduct left the officers with no choice but to deploy the tasers which sent jolts of electricity into the suspect’s body. The man collapsed to the ground immediately.
In his tweet, SP Hundeyin asked his followers if it would be okay for Police Officers in Nigeria to have taser guns as part of their crime-fighting equipment.
