Spanish giants Real Madrid are reportedly keeping a close eye on Nigerian-born defender Honest Ahanor, who has emerged as a standout performer for Italian side Atalanta this season.
Ahanor, who joined Atalanta from Genoa last summer, has quickly established himself as a key figure at the Gewiss Stadium.
The versatile defender has featured in 28 matches across all competitions this season, contributing one goal, and has also been a regular presence in the UEFA Champions League, showcasing his defensive reliability on Europe’s biggest stage.
According to Sky Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Real Madrid scouts have been monitoring Ahanor as the club plans for the potential departures of experienced defenders David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger.

With the defensive line expected to undergo significant changes, Ahanor is being considered as a promising long-term replacement.
The 23-year-old’s combination of versatility, tactical awareness, and European experience has made him an attractive target for the LaLiga champions, who are looking to reinforce their backline ahead of the 2026–2027 season.
Atalanta, known for developing young talent, may face competition from other European clubs eager to secure Ahanor’s services, adding urgency to Real Madrid’s scouting efforts.
