Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has come under fire from social media critics following her comments on the nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest. In a post on her official Instagram page, Daniels, while sharing her thoughts on the protests, condemned the acts of violence carried out by some demonstrators.

“Today is August 1, the first day of the national protests in Nigeria. We all know that the masses are suffering and want a better way of living, hence the protest. There is nothing wrong with protesting, but there is everything wrong with violence,” Daniels wrote.

“Once violence gets involved, it defeats the whole purpose of the protests. I urge everyone to try and make this protest as peaceful as possible.”

Her remarks, however, sparked a wave of criticism on social media, with many accusing her of being out of touch with the realities faced by ordinary Nigerians due to her marriage to billionaire Ned Nwoko.

Selected comments targeted at Regina Daniels include:

@bluespet.ng wrote: “If the country was good, would you have married your grandpa? Anuofia.”

@empress_official_2 commented: “Madam, I don’t think you are qualified to give anyone advice now! If Nigeria was better, would you marry your ancestor for survival?!”

Another outraged Instagram user said, “Take the video down. You’re too young to advise your elders. If the country was good, you wouldn’t marry your grandfather.”

“You? Advise Nigerians?? No be your fault sha…. If not for Ned, you would still be doing Spider-Man stunts in Asaba,” remarked another user.

The backlash highlights the growing frustration among Nigerians, who feel that public figures like Daniels, due to their privileged positions, may not fully understand the struggles of the average citizen.
