Reign of horror in southeast, gunmen shot two FRSC officials dead in Anambra

The reign of horror has continued on southwest Nigeria unbated. The veiled gunmen in the region at the weekend shot dead two officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra State.

The Corps Public Relations officer, Bisi Kazeem, in a statement narrated that a patrol team of FRSC comprising of an officer, a driver and two other staff were conducting routine patrol operations at about 2.45 pm on Sunday along Igbo-Uku-Uga route, Anambra State, when armed men opened fire at them. “Two of the Corps personnel were killed with one escaping into the bush and the team leader rushed to the hospital after sustaining severe injuries from the attack,” Kazeem added.

Corps Marshal Boboye Oyeyemi disclosed that the agency in collaboration with the police are on the manhunt of the killer gunmen. According to the Corps marshal, “the Corps is working with the Nigerian Police Force and other relevant security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators are arrested and allowed to face the full weight of the law.”

The attack on security personnel and facilitates has continued in the southeast unabated. In Imo State the burning of police stations by gunmen has become rampant.
