There appears to be renewed tension as the Biafra Nations League (BNL) on Monday captured the border territory with Cameroon in the Peninsula, seizing control of the boundary between Bakassi Peninsula and Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River State, Nigeria. The Biafra Nations League militia further blocked the entrance to the Peninsula and hoist the Biafran flag on Monday. They stopped vehicles from moving within the territory, a little time before the arrival of the Nigerian Army to the territory.
The Biafra Nations League has been linked to attacks on Cameroonian Forces in the disputed territory. They group has vowed to occupy and control the territorial waters in the Gulf of Guinea.
