Mai Mala Buni, governor of Yobe state, asserted that former Boko Haram members who have renounced violence have become valuable allies in the fight against the extremist group.
These repentant members, known as the “Hybrid Force,” are assisting security forces with crucial intelligence gathering.
Governor Buni addressed resident concerns regarding the Hybrid Force’s involvement in security operations within Gaidam.
He assured the public that the government prioritizes their safety and would never take actions that could jeopardize it.
Governor Buni explained the valuable contributions of the Hybrid Force:
Intelligence Sharing: They leverage their existing connections within Boko Haram and ISWAP (Islamic State West Africa Province) to provide security forces with vital information about the insurgents’ movements, plans, and collaborators.
