The House of Representatives has proposed monthly salary of N250,000 for primary school teachers, N500,000 for secondary school teachers and N1 million for university lecturers.
Members of the Lower Chamber of the National Assembly, accordingly, demanded salary increase for teachers at all levels of the education sector from primary school to the university.

The House members made the proposal while considering the crisis in the education sector and the contentious issues of Minimum Wage between the federal government and the Organsied Labour.
Meanwhile, this is a proposal by the federal lawmakers and not yet a formal recommendation.

The leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) had considered proposing N200,000 or N100,000 as Minimum Wage in Nigeria in relation to the high cost of living in the country.
However, President Bola Tinubu is yet to send a bill on a new Minimum Wage to the National Assembly for legislation. The federal government is, however, yet to conclude negotiation with the Organised Labour.
