The upheaval in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) accelerates uncertainties over the political fortunes of the party. The failure of the party leaders to properly handle the conflicts has continued to increase loss of confidence on both the ruling party and the leadership by several APC stakeholders.  After the loss of 42 lawmakers in the Senate and House of representatives of the National Assembly to opposition political parties on Tuesday and the recovery of two senators in Wednesday, APC senators led by Senate Leader, Ahmed Lawal, in a solidarity visit to President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House, Abuja, assured that some of the APC senators defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in error and are expected to return to the party.

However, there have been the indications that more defections from the APC would take place. The defections are anticipated to include governors, lawmakers in some States House of Assembly and commissioners,

National Daily gathered that the Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki,  has disclosed intention to quit the ruling party in a statement that his chances of leaving the ruling APC are “very, very high”.

Perhaps, the move to convince the senate president to stay with the ruling APC, compelled the seeming speedy intervention of the Justice Ministry top exonerate Saraki and Kwara State Governor, Abdulfattah Ahmed, from the Police embarrassment linking them to the Offa bank robbery in Kwara Sate under investigation, after various forms of intimidation have failed to coerce Saraki to stoop to the party’s suppression.
