THE Lagos State chairman of Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, (RTEAN), Alhaji Musa Mohammad has embarked on sensitization of drivers and other road users in all parks and garages in Lagos.
He cautioned the drivers against excessive speed and the need to ensure that they always have a jack, triangular reflector, spare tyre and other needed tools with them.
Musa added that RTEAN deemed it necessary to educate drivers on the need drive safely the yuletide period considering increased volume of passengers, noting that they should ensure their vehicles were roadworthy before embarking on any trip.
During the sensitization, RTEAN carried raid in parks and ceased tons of various hard drugs including weeds suspected to be Indian Hemp, gallons of Ogogoro several quantity of energy drinks, sachets of assorted bitter drinks and quantity of a brand of local cigarette called Opa Eyin were impounded in some parks visited by the crack team.
The local hawkers of these killer drugs and intoxicants were also apprehended and according source at the headquarters of the association would be handed over to the police for prosecution.
He warned the hawkers who invade garages to dispense ogogoro and other hard drugs to drivers to desist from such acts, warning the drivers against drunk driving.
He reiterated that anyone caught by the Taskforce would face severe disciplinary measures.
