Russian forces bombed the port city of Odessa in Ukraine on Sunday to cut off source of fuel supply to Ukrainian forces. The explosion generated thick smoke from several areas on the Black Sea port. Russia had carried out the air strikes at about 6.00am (0300 GMT) on Sunday.
Ukrainian forces, however, state nobody was killed in the air strikes.
The defence ministry of Russia, confirming the air strikes, explained that “high-precision sea and air-based missiles destroyed an oil refinery and three storage facilities for fuel and lubricants.” The authorities said that the targets were supplying fuel to Ukrainian army.
an adviser to the Ukrainian interior minister, Anton Herashchenko, narrated that “Fires were reported in some areas,” adding that “some of the missiles were shot down by air defence.”
Russia has commenced withdrawal process after reaching some agreements with Ukraine during negotiations.
