Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State recently met with his predecessor, Akinwunmi Ambode, to discuss the state’s future and strategies for building on its existing foundation.
Sanwo-Olu shared details of the meeting on his X page, describing their conversation as focused on ensuring Lagos remains on a path of growth and development.
“Our conversation centred around the future of Lagos and building on the solid foundation already in place. I value his perspective as we all work together to ensure that Lagos remains on the path of growth and development.”

This meeting marks a significant moment, as Ambode, who served as governor from 2015 to 2019, had a contentious relationship with Sanwo-Olu following his defeat in the 2019 APC primary election.
However, the two have since reconciled, with their public reunion first occurring in 2023 during a reception for President Bola Tinubu at Lagos House. The recent meeting highlights their shared commitment to Lagos State’s progress.
It was the first time Sanwo-Olu, Ambode and another ex-Lagos governor, Babatunde Fashola, met in over four years since the wind of internal wrangling slapped the ruling political class in the state.
