“Following the recent flash flooding in Ikorodu, our team visited Ijede, Gberigbe, Okeletu and surrounding communities to sympathise with residents, assess damages and reaffirm the State’s commitment to long-term solutions.

“Let me reiterate: the heavy rainfall we experienced is a clear sign of the effects of climate change. This is why we are intensifying our response with resilient infrastructure, backed by early warnings from NiMET and proactive desilting by EFAG.

“Governor @jidesanwoolu’s administration is committed to completing the Ikorodu drainage projects within the approved timeline. The contractor is on ground, and the second tranche of funding has been released.

“We appeal to residents to support this effort by avoiding dumping waste into drains and resisting encroachment on drainage alignments and the Right of Way. What affects one part of the system affects the whole.

“To those affected by dislocation or damage, I bring Mr. Governor’s message of solidarity and support. We are also working with the Ministry of Special Duties to assess humanitarian needs and intervene where necessary.

“There is no need to panic. This is a challenge we are actively addressing with urgency, compassion and long-term planning.”
