Saraki’s supporters borrow Jonathan’s 2011 campaign strategy

As support groups go gung-ho over selling their preferred party’s candidates especially in the APC, the PDP presidential wannabe Bukola Saraki has come ahead of his rivals—with a style swiped from the past.

He has told Nigerians he’s still absorbed in fortifying his party for now. But his foot soldiers are not waiting for him.

Tuesday, Saraki presidential campaign posters were pasted at Berger roundabout in Abuja.

“Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki for president 2023, Saraki is coming 2023- Door to Door,” the poster screamed

Carrying the logo of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the poster was sponsored by Umar Farin Gado Kazaure, the Director General of the Saraki is Coming 2023.

Door-to-Door is a riff on Neighbour-2-Neighbour which former President Goodluck Joathan support network used then in the 2011 presidential election.

Neighbour-2-Neighbour then was headed by former aviation minister, Stella Oduah.

Saraki’s support groups are trying to beat the odds against their man from the north-central who may be morally constrained to support any presidential aspirant from the region.

The new party chairman Iyorcha Ayu comes from Benue in the north-central too—same as Saraki’s Kwara.

Others believed to be warming up in the PDP include Sokoto Gov Aminu Tambuwal and former V.P. Atiku Abubakar.
