Security guards successfully thwarted an attempted breach of the private residence of Senator Kashim Shettima, the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and arrested a 35-year-old man, Musa Ibrahim of Maduganari area, Maiduguri.
Intelligence sources informed Zagazola Makama that the incident transpired on April 9th at approximately 0530hrs at the residence situated in New GRA, Gwange 3 Ward off Bama Road, Maiduguri, the capital of the restive Borno State.
The sources revealed that the suspect reportedly attempted to scale the perimeter wall via the Gadabul River bank behind the western side of the residence.
Upon being spotted by security personnel, the suspect attempted to flee but was shot in the leg and subsequently apprehended.

He was promptly transported to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), where he is presently receiving treatment and responding.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough investigation.
In response to the incident, security deployment at the Vice President’s residence has been reviewed and reinforced.
