While Nigeria did not qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, about seven Nigerian citizens will be playing for the national teams of other countries in the world cup between November 20th to December 18th.
Of the seven Nigerian players in the national teams of foreign countries, two will be representing Canada, two representing Germany, one in England, and two representing Switzerland at the world cup.
The Nigerian players include Bukoya Saka, England; Manuel Akanji, Switzerland; Noah Okafor, Switzerland; Karim Adeyemi, Germany; Samuel Adekugbe, Canada; Ike Ugbo, Canada; and Jamal Musiala, Germany.
Bukayo Saka plays for Arsenal in the English Premier League.
He was born in London to Nigerian parents, and aged 21 years. He first played for England in 2020.
Manuel Akanji, 27 years, plays for Manchester City in the English Premier League in England. He was born in Neftenbach, Switzerland, to a Nigerian father and a Swiss mother.
Noah Okafor, 22 years, has played for Europeans teams, before settling for Switzerland national team. He was born in Binningen, to a Nigerian father and has a Swiss mother.
In Germany, Jamal Musiala, 19 years, will feature for the national team at the Qatar world cup. He plays for Bayern Munich; was a former Chelsea Academy player.
He was born to a British-Nigeria father in Stuggart and has a German mother. He played for the English U-17 in England, but rejected the English national team, including Nigeria to play for Germany.
Karim Adeyemi, 20 years, will also be playing for the German national team at the world cup. Adeyemi plays for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga.
Adeyemi was born in Munich, Germany, to a Nigerian father and a Romanian mother.
Before joining the German side in May 2022, Adeyemi scored 19 times for Red Bull Salzburg in the 2021-2022 season.
Ike Ugbo, 24, will be in the Canadian national team at Qatar. He plays for Ligue 1 team Troyes. He was born in London to Nigerian parents but the family moved to Canada when he was about five years.

Samuel Adekugbe, 27, is another Nigerian playing for the Canadian national team in Qatar.
Samuel plays for Turkish Super Lig club Hatayspor.
