The Minority Leader of Senate of the Nigerian national assembly, Enyinaya Abaribe, on Tuesday his formal exit from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stepping down as the Minority Leader, and defection to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
The President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, made the announcement when the Senate resumed plenary on Tuesday.
Senator Abaribe, therefore, changed his seat on the floor of the Upper Chamber of the federal legislature.
Some PDP senators had protested that Senator Abaribe had not consulted with them before the defection. Senator George Sekibo argued that Abaribe did not notify the PDP caucus he had problems in the state PDP in Abia.
Also, the Majority Leader of the Senate, Yahaya Abdullahi, including Senator Adamu Aliero, representing Kebbi State, dumped the ruling APC for the PDP.
In separate letters read by the Senate President on the floor, they explained that their decision to move to the PDP is because there is no internal democracy in APC.
