Amidst the current economic crunch and heavy national indebtedness by states and the federal government, the National Assembly is itching for creation of more states.
The Senate committee on Constitution review allegedly made the proposal, though it has debunked the claim.
According its spokesperson Ajibola Bashiru, it was a gross misinterpretation of the statement the committee made while receiving amendments Nigerians proposed, including state creation.
The committee had said it was not its call to make, saying the proposals would be sent to INEC.
