Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has unveiled a strategic vision for human capacity development in Kogi Central, emphasizing the pivotal role of technology in fostering self-reliance among her constituents.
During a recent empowerment event, the Senator highlighted the initiative as a direct response to the widening gap in access to modern technology and relevant skills, asserting, “Our people deserve to be empowered with the very best of technology for self-reliance.”
The Senator’s decision to integrate drone technology into the program was inspired by its successful applications in countries like South Africa, Egypt, Malawi, and Ethiopia, where drones drive advancements in sectors such as mining, agriculture, and infrastructure monitoring.
She declared, “Drone technology is the new frontier of socio-economic development not only in Africa but globally.” As part of this commitment, 80 drones were distributed to individuals and learning institutions, aiming to position Nigeria as a leader in innovative capacity-building.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan underscored the vast potential of drone technology in Nigeria, noting its applications beyond photography and videography to include security, construction, oil and gas, agriculture, delivery services, environmental monitoring, and telecommunications.
Extending the program’s reach, the initiative also includes the departments of Geology and Environmental Science from ten tertiary institutions nationwide, equipping them with modern tools to enhance student learning and provide hands-on training in emerging technologies.
The distributed DJI Neo drones comply with Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority regulations, falling under the sub-250g category.
This empowerment drive is part of a broader commitment to development in Kogi Central.
Recently, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan flagged off the construction of two smart markets with a combined capacity of 160 shops and distributed 700 computers to students of Abdul-Azeez Attah Memorial College, Okene.
She reiterated her dedication to continually empowering her constituents with modern technologies and innovation-driven opportunities, stressing that “they deserve the best.”
