Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, representing Taraba South, Taraba State, at the plenary of the Senate of the Nigeria National Assembly on Wednesday, cried out over incursion into Nigeria’s territory and killing of citizens by soldiers from Cameroon. The senator cautioned of the emerging serious threat to the country’s territorial integrity.
Some soldiers from Cameroon had invaded Manga community in Takum Local Government Area, Taraba State, killing several persons. The soldiers were, however, identified as Ambazonia separatist gendarmes from southern Cameroon.
Senator Bwacha decried that the separatist fighters from Cameroon, in the invasion killed the village head of Manga and some residents. He added that several other residents flee their ancestral home for safety, leaving empty community behind. The gendarmes killed 11 persons in the invasion of the Nigerian territory.
Senator Bwacha urged the Nigerian military to urgently intervene to protect the territory and prevent the occupation of the Nigerian territory, the Manga community, by the Cameroonian gendarmes.
The Nigerian presidency has been silent on the incursion into Nigeria;s territory by the gendarmes from Cameroon and killing 11 Nigerian citizens in Taraba State. The Nigerian military have also said nothing.
