The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has revealed that the group is filing a lawsuit against Senate President Godswill Akpabio over the announcement of payment of “holiday allowances” to senators by the Clerk of the National Assembly.

SERAP protested that senators were enjoying holidays allowances when over 137 million poor Nigerians are facing severe economic hardship.

SERAP, in a statement on its official X handle, declared: “We’re suing the Senate President Godswill Akpabio over the alleged payments of “holiday allowances” by the Clerk of the National Assembly into the “various accounts” of senators while some 137 million poor Nigerians face severe economic hardship.”

The organization is yet to give details of the lawsuit.
