Seyi Tinubu, son of Bola Tinubu, has publicly refuted allegations connecting him to the escalating online feud between social media personalities Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), and Mitchell Mukoro, widely recognised as King Mitchy.

The controversy erupted following claims circulating online that suggested an improper relationship or undisclosed arrangement between Seyi Tinubu and King Mitchy. These allegations were amplified amid an ongoing war of words between King Mitchy and VeryDarkMan, with the latter reportedly using the claims to intensify his criticism.

The tension gained momentum after King Mitchy, a philanthropist and content creator, announced that she successfully renovated a dilapidated school within six days. She presented the project as evidence that tangible change could be achieved swiftly with genuine commitment and purpose.

However, some of her remarks were interpreted as veiled criticisms of VeryDarkMan. In response, the activist accused her of serving as a political tool allegedly deployed to polish the image of President Tinubu’s administration.

In subsequent videos, VeryDarkMan reportedly escalated the matter by tagging Seyi Tinubu and alleging that both he and King Mitchy were threatening his life—claims that further intensified public interest in the controversy.

Addressing the allegations in a statement posted on Instagram on Saturday, Seyi Tinubu dismissed the insinuations as entirely false and baseless.

Clarifying the extent of his interaction with King Mitchy, Tinubu stated that their meeting occurred only once in a public setting and strictly within the context of his philanthropic engagements.

“I met Mitchy once, in a public setting, alongside others. On that occasion, I provided financial support toward her NGO activities, just as I have supported many young Nigerians and organisations working to empower our people,” he wrote.

He added that a follow-up meeting had been scheduled to receive updates on the NGO’s progress after the donation but did not take place due to his ill health.

“A follow-up meeting had been scheduled for me to receive an update on the impact of her NGO’s work following the donation. That meeting did not take place because I have been unwell,” he explained.

Tinubu categorically denied any form of private relationship or secret dealings.

“There has never been a private encounter, no secret arrangement, and no impropriety of any kind,” he stated.

In his statement, Tinubu also criticised VeryDarkMan, accusing the activist of exploiting a feud he had no involvement in to tarnish his reputation.

“What is deeply concerning is that a feud I did not start, and in which I have played no part, has been used as a vehicle to insert my name into a narrative without basis in truth,” he wrote.

“For reasons best known to him, VDM appears to have been looking for a trigger, an opportunity to attack and attempt to harm my reputation and seized upon this situation to do so. I will not accept that.”

He further emphasised that charitable support should not be misconstrued as scandalous behaviour.

“If my name generates attention, let us at least deal in facts. Supporting charitable causes is not a crime. Meeting someone publicly to support their NGO is not a scandal. Repeating falsehoods loudly does not transform them into truth,” he added.

Tinubu asserted that he would not be intimidated by what he described as fictional narratives, stressing his refusal to succumb to public pressure or online harassment.

“I will not be bullied, and I will not dignify fiction with panic. I have experienced bullying before, and I understand the harm it can cause. That is why I take a firm stance against it,” he said.

He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to youth empowerment initiatives through his foundation, warning against the politicisation of philanthropic efforts.

“Philanthropy and outreach must never be politicised or weaponised,” Tinubu said, calling for de-escalation and responsible public discourse.

“To those seeking to manufacture controversy: Nigeria needs builders, not bullies. We need responsible discourse, not sensationalism driven by speculation. I firmly reject the accusations made against me. I call for de-escalation, for restraint, and for a return to truth and responsibility,” he added.
