Shareholders’ investment drops as Nigeria stock market bearish trading enters second day

Shareholders total investment in the Nigerian capital market dropped by 0.05 percent at the close of trading on Friday.

The equity capitalization dropped by N14.80 billion from N25.49 trillion to N25.47 trillion at the end of the day’s business.

The All-Share Index was down by 27.46 basis points to drop from 47,296.07 to 47,268.61.

Investors traded 179.32 million shares worth N2.12 billion in 5,620 deals on Friday.

This was lower than 243.43 million shares valued at N6.87 billion, traded in 7,056 deals the previous day.

John Holt led the gainers chart with 8.86 percent to end trading at N0.86kobo from N0.79kobo per share.

Regal Insurance gained 7.69 percent to rise from N0.39kobo per share to N0.42kobo.

Linkage Assurance share was up by 7.41 percent to move from N0.54kobo to N0.58kobo per share.

United Capital share appreciated by N0.70kobo to move from N13.20kobo to N13.90kobo per share.

Linkage Assurance gained 3.85 percent to end trading with N0.54kobo from N0.52kobo per share.

Royal Exchange led the losers’ chart shedding N0.14kobo to drop from N1.49kobo to N1.35kobo per share.

MC Nichols shares depreciated from N0.77kobo to N0.70kobo per share after losing 9.09 percent during trading.

Lasaco shares dropped by N0.10kobo to end trading at N1.03 from N1.13kobo per share. Niger Insurance lost 8 percent to end trading with N0.23kobo from N0.25kobo per share.

Chams completed the list after shedding 4.55 percent from its market price to drop from N0.22kobo to N0.21kobo per share. FCMB led the day’s trading with 25.02 million shares valued at N84.45 million.

Zenith Bank followed with 13.01 million shares valued at N344.95 million. First Bank was next with 12.76 million shares worth N142.08 million.

United Capital sold 10.19 million shares worth N140.06 million, while Courtville traded 9.69 million valued at N5.81 million.
